04. Lexical Verbs | L website learngrammar.net
Alphabetically, the 5 types of Lexical verbs are: (1) Dynamic, (2) Intransitive, (3) Linking, (4) Static, and (5) Transitive. DILST. Ordered pairwise, they are: A: Tansitive, Intransitive; B: Static, Dynamic; and the loner: Linking => TISDL.
05. Transitive Verbs | T website Dictionary.com
A TRANSITIVE verbb expresses an ACTION, and needs a DIRECT OBJECT to receive that action.
Example 1: David knows you. Here, knows is the action, and you is the direct object.
An INTRAiSITIVE expresses action, but it needs NO OBJECT.
Example 2: David knows; here, knows is an intransitive verb. It has an action it does not need an object. It shows the same verb knows may be used having either a direct object (as a transitive verb) or no object (as an intransitive verb) depending on their context.
Note: In the English language, some verbs are used only as transitive verbs, some are used only as intransitive verbs, some are used both as transitive and as intransitive verbs.
Example 3: I walk // I walk the dog.
Example 4: I play // I play the guitar. burn | break | burst | close | cook | fade | freeze | jump | march | melt | open | run | stretch | tighten | walk | wave || BBBCC FFJMM ORS TWW
